Logo, Signage, Banner & Agenda Design
designed for Santa Clara Unified School District & Mission College
Mission College in Silicon Valley opened their campus to the STEAM Expo, to involve kids from the Santa Clara Unified School District (SCUSD). They needed a logo that could be used each year for t-shirts, banners, print & digital communication.
They also needed a printed agenda to indicate where in the 3-story building each session was held.
The result was a design with icons and colors to represent each of the STEAM subjects. “S” = Science; a microscope, “T” = a robot as the icon for Technology, and so on. I kept the letters bold and the icons simple, to be recognized instantly by color, shape, or character. In addition, each room had a sign indicating which of the STEAM subjects were represented.
What is a STEAM project?
Any project that combines two or more of the following: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math. This was a CELEBRATION! Students were invited to showcase their projects and celebrate learning, both in and out of the classroom
“I didn’t realize 4th graders code robots in our district.”
The event was a great success with around 800 students participating in presentations or hands-on projects and 23 out of the SCUSD’s 28 schools represented. Over the course of the day, between 2,500 and 3,000 people visited the Expo and the many exhibitions on display.
